Choc Banana Breakfast Smoothie
This is an quick, easy and insanely delicious breakfast smoothie.
All it requires is chucking 6 ingredients into your blender jug and hitting the smoothie function on your MOD Blend Pro. Forty seconds later you'll have a perfectly balanced breakfast or snack.
Thanks to the frozen banana, nut butter and flax seeds, this smoothie is thick and creamy but still able to be sipped through a straw - perfect for when you are needing breakfast on the run.
Adding nut butter to smoothies ensures you get a healthy dose of good fats in your diet. Almond butter, for example, contains heart-loving monounsaturated fats along with vitamin E, magnesium and calcium. The high calorie count of nut butters also help to keep you fuller for longer.
Flax seeds are optional in this recipe but they are a great pantry staple to have on hand. Flax seeds are loaded with nutrients including omega-3 fats, fibre and lignans.
Lignans are a plant compound that have both antioxidant and estrogen properties, which help to lower the risk of cancer and improve health. Flax seeds also contain up to 800x more lignans than other plant based foods.
Lastly, adding oats means you are getting large dose of the soluble fibre, beta-glutan. Beta-glutan is great for reducing blood sugar and insulin response, LDL and overall cholesterol levels and well as increasing the feeling of fullness and promoting growth of good bacteria in the digestive tract. m

Choc Banana Breakfast Smoothie | MOD Appliances
1 small ripe banana, frozen
25g rolled oats
15g chocolate protein powder
1 TBSP nut butter (almond, peanut or cashew)
1 tsp ground flax seeds
1 cup of Coco Quench Coconut milk (or any other milk)
Pinch of salt
3 ice cubes
