Juicing offers a whole range of health benefits but one lesser known benefit is its ability to assist the body in heavy metal detoxing. This is someething not spoken about in mainstream health and from our experience, rarely (if ever) talked about at a routine health check up.

It's something all of us should be aware of in our modern world, as we're exposed to more heavy metals through our environment and food supply than ever before.

What Are Heavy Metals?

Examples of heavy metals are:

  • arsenic
  • cadmium
  • chromium
  • copper
  • lead
  • nickel
  • zinc
  • mercury
  • aluminum
  • iron

How Can Heavy Metals Cause You Harm?

Though maintaining a small amount of heavy metals, such as iron and zinc, in the body is essential for good health, we can run into problems when we have a build up which can actually be toxic to the body.

Heavy metal poisoning is something that is becoming more and more common and can be caused by the following (these are just an example - the actual list is quite extensive!)

  • Improperly coated food containers, plates, and cookware
  • Ingestion of lead-based paints
  • Ingestion of insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides

Though the body has developed the ability to remove some of the excess metals from our internal organs, research has found that certain foods can lend a helping hand. The process of certain foods binding to the heavy metal and transporting them out of the body is known as chelation.

What Makes This Juice Good At Detoxing The Body Of Heavy Metals?

Barley Grass Juice Extract Powder: Barley grass can draw heavy metals out of the intestinal tract, spleen, pancreas, thyroid and reproductive system.

Blueberries: Blueberries are able to draw heavy metals out of the brain. They are also great at repairing and curing all organs and areas in your body where heavy metals and toxins have been removed. This is especially important for brain tissue. It is the most powerful food for reversing Alzheimer’s disease. Wild blueberries have been found to be significantly more powerful, if you can get your hand on them, otherwise regular blueberries will suffice.

Pineapples: Pineapples contain the largest amounts of the enzyme, bromelain which is an enzyme that assists with digestive issues and allergies. Bromelain also has anti-inflammatory properties which help to fight swelling and tense muscles. Bromelain has also been shown to fight lung metastasis, which suggests that it has the potential to fight a variety of cancers.
