Post Workout Recovery Smoothie
It is recommended that for your body to recover effectively, it is best to consume protein within 60 minutes of finishing a workout.
For me, nothing is better than refueling with a protein rich smoothie after a grueling workout. They are quick, easy and can be made ahead and consumed on the go.
And for the times I am craving something refreshing and filling, I grab my blender and throw this combination together. I keep a store of pineapple, avocado and banana in the freezer so I always have the ingredients on hand.
Not only is this smoothie anti-inflammatory (thanks to the turmeric), it contains important enzymes like bromelain found in pineapple which is helpful for supporting sports injuries, arthritis and heart health (to name a few), protein to support muscle recovery and repair, healthy fats from the avocado, energy and potassium.
I find that knowing that not only once I am done with my workout I have a delicious smoothie waiting for me but also it will help my body get the best out of the workout really helps to keep me motivated and trying my hardest.
So give this one ago next time you finish off a run of HIIT workout and let us know what you think!
