Having experienced a global pandemic we have all witnessed situations that we never thought was possible. In particular, something that will always stay with me was seeing empty supermarket shelves for weeks on end. Living in Australia, I never thought that this would be an issue.

The experience has made me so much more conscious about what I buy, how long it will last and the need to avoid waste at all costs.

Further, money saving has never been so important and so by shopping smarter and filling your trolley with whole foods that will nourish your body and keep you fuller (and healthier) for longer is crucial for keeping your weekly costs down.

Reducing waste has always been something that MOD Appliances has been passionate about. So many people believe the idea of juicing is a wasteful exercise, however, juicing can actually mean a single fruit or vegetable can be used in a variety of different ways.

With a simple list of produce, we will show you how you can use it in three different ways.

Next time you head to the supermarket pick up the following and together we can make a salad, a juice and vegetable patties.

You will need:

  • 6 small - medium carrots
  • 2 cups of baby spinach (1 cup for the juice & 1 cup for the salad)
  • 1 lemon
  • Small handful of parsley
  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 1 large cube of goats cheese
  • 1 1/2 tsp moroccan spice mix
  • 1/2 tsp each garlic powder and chilli powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper

The salad and juice is enough for one while the patties will make quite a few. If you have surplus, after they have been shaped into patties then pop them in the freezer for future use.

First up is the Moroccan Spinach, Carrot & Chickpea Salad

Then, wash it down with a Spinach, Carrot & Lemon Cold Pressed Juice.

And finally, use the pulp from the juice to create some delicious Moroccan Veggie Patties.
